Detmold Medical

Detmold Medical has recently been established by the Detmold Group as a result of a partnership with the State and Federal Governments to manufacture medical masks (PPE). Detmold Medical has set up a new manufacturing facility to ensure supplies of quality professional products for the healthcare industry. As a result of this investment in local manufacturing the following contract opportunity is now available.

The Role

Reporting directly to the Supply Chain Manager, the Purchasing and Materials Control Coordinator plays a critical role in the purchase and control of all materials and consumables needed for production in accordance with production plans, sales forecasts, policies and procedures and operational requirements. This will be an initial 12-month fixed term contract. Key responsibilities include:


  • raise purchase orders for raw materials / consumables within the MRP system;
  • review orders and check to ensure materials available;
  • liaise with the Group Procurement team on key strategic suppliers;
  • negotiate price and terms with local suppliers, and monitor performance of vendors (o/s and local) to ensure quality and delivery metrics are met;
  • analyse data to ensure stock on hand and in transit meets order requirements and production plans;
  • monitor delivery timeframes, follow up on outstanding orders, manage delivery expectations, expedite where necessary, confirm of UPLIFT, shipping and ETAs;
  • identify and address potential supply and transport issues to mitigate risk;
  • inventory control;
  • work closely and liaise with key departments (sales, production) to ensure supply and demand is met;
  • prepare regular reports on inventory;
  • manage all MRP systems related to inventory and the role;
  • undertake improvement initiatives

Skill and Experience 

  • relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent;
  • significant experience in a similar role within a manufacturing / industrial environment;
  • highly organised and excellent time management skills;
  • ability to work under pressure and resolve problems in real time;
  • strong verbal, written and numeracy skills, with an analytical mindset;
  • sound computer skills including MS Word, Excel and use of MRP systems;
  • customer-centric approach with a positive attitude and solid negotiating capabilities;
  • hands on approach with the ability to operate well in a busy and demanding team environment;
